Understand your treatment
Baby teeth need care too
Baby teeth help with chewing, speech and maintaining space for permanent teeth. Pain or decay therefore deserves attention even if the tooth will eventually fall out. A visit helps identify each child’s needs.
Preparing for your evaluation
- Tell us your child’s age and reason for visiting when you book.
- Share any previous dental experiences.
- Bring medical history and information about current treatments.

When should a child first visit the dentist?
The AAPD recommends a first check-up when the first tooth appears, and no later than the first birthday. Contact us to discuss arranging the visit.
Does a cavity in a baby tooth need attention?
It needs assessment. A tooth eventually falling out does not remove the need to address damage; the plan depends on the diagnosis.
What should I tell you before the appointment?
Your child’s age, reason for visiting and any experiences that concern you. This helps us prepare for the visit.
